NEW Mixed Media Painting: True Strength

Title: True Strength.
Original Painting (SOLD)
Prints available in my etsy shop.

this piece started out as a strange character. but rather than cover it up, i knew i had to just let it be and emerge.

so instead of trying to get rid what was there, i worked with the elements and added things i loved...like strawberry rub-on decals, india ink, bleeding art tissue paper and shiva paintsticks.

and from there, she started to come together...

Title: True Strength.
Original Painting (SOLD)
Prints available in my etsy shop.

one of the things i loved most about creating this painting was that in a moment when i didn't know what to do next, i followed the first thing that came to mind...splatter ink.

and that's when her true character came out in the feather below her ear.

an ink splatter became a perfect feather, and i realized this piece wasn't about all of those feathers on her head, or the crown she seemed to adorn. this painting was really about the feather over her shoulder. the thing that often goes unnoticed because it seems so natural... her true strength.

from there she got her story...

from a far away land this woman stands strong, knowing that even when everything seems to be falling apart, things fit back together again when you connect with your TRUE STRENGTH.
