how to paint an owl class!!!

if you subscribe to my newsletter, a little bird may have already told you that i just dropped off a batch of these super colorful mounted prints and originals at the glitter workshop (my first time selling at a local--Madison, WI-- boutique!!!)! i cannot wait to stop by and see how everything looks displayed in the new store!

but... the MOST EXCITING NEWS is, ever since i wrote my technique article for somerset studio (coming out in their jan/feb issue), i've been thinking a ton about teaching a class! and the glitter workshop just happens to have this super fabulous workshop space where I WILL BE TEACHING A CLASS where you can learn HOW TO PAINT AN OWL!

i can't even tell you how excited i am about this!

the class will include instruction on how to paint an owl and mixed media backgrounds. i'll be sharing the drawing template i use to create my own owl characters. then we’ll be adding lots of color and embellishments! i’ll be sharing all of the little tricks i’ve learned along the way too-what supplies work best together, how to choose colors and really make your character and backgrounds pop!

this class has been a long time in the making! and while this workshop will start off in the classroom, i am SO hoping to be able to transfer my class into something online, so i can share it with all of you outside of Madison too!

i've been tossing around a lot of ideas for just what this online class would look like, so if you have any ideas about things you'd just love to learn more about, please leave a comment! i'd be delighted to hear from you!

it's always a little scary trying something new. i'm always so afraid of making a mistake that i don't move. but a lot of people have been telling me lately that you need to take risks to grow.

holiday cards available in my etsy shop!

so right now, it's all about having fun and trying new things for me. and I cannot say how very grateful I am for all of your support and encouragement through it all! I could not have done it without you!

THANK YOU!!!

  7. Oh, I'd love an online class about how to draw those owls. Your owls have been an inspiration for me and I always love them when I see them. It would be wonderful to learn how to do them (I'm not good at drawing at all).

  14. I would LOVE to take your owl class online! For me, lots of PDFs are great - videos, not so much, since like most of Australia, we have a sloooooooooow internet connection with only limited downloads per month. (Just something to consider...)

  16. OOOOOh, I can't wait until the online class is released. I am a BIG fan of your work and would love to learn how to make one of my own. Every night, I look at the piece I bought for you and it makes me feel so good. I have a list of other works I want to collect from you, too! That is so generous to teach a class on this. Thank you!
