IN BLOOM

I can hardly imagine this painting as anything else. And I am delighted to have shared the before and after shots with you so you can see the results. I am all for changing the things you're not happy with...and now I present to you IN BLOOM.

The original mixed media painting IN BLOOM has sold! Thanks so much for your continued support! Archival prints available in my Art Shop!

IN BLOOM 8 X 8 Inch Print of Mixed Media Painting
Two things were really bothering me about Phase 1 of this painting: I wasn't happy with the green and I really hated her deer body. It felt like I had taken the easy way out and not pushed my imagination to its fullest. So I went back into the studio, painted a bunch of golden yellow and was so excited when her springtime dress turned out. And from there everything else just fell into place. I knew she had to have the brightest of orange-red hair to match that dress. Here I've played with acrylics, colored pencils, charcoal, ink, pastel, and origami paper to give her life and magic.

  15. You know... I think I like them both equally. There's a strange feeling the first one gives. This one is more similar to your others.

    Anyways, great job. :)

  18. Hi Juliette, thanks for your lovely comments on my blog. I love this, it has really come alive with those golds and reds. Something I've come to understand about my painting is that every piece goes through an 'ugly duckling' stage, where you just hate it, it isn't working, you feel like it's the worst thing you've ever done, and you want to abandon it. And I've learnt that if I just keep going, it will get better!

  21. Your work is truly of the imagination. I LOVE this painting! I am just smitten with her little nose. I enjoyed, too, seeing the transformation and hearing about your process. I love learning about process of other artists! Saying that you felt you needed to push your imagination to the fullest is something I'm going to think about today. I love it when I feel like I can see the artist's imagination in their work. I'd like to be able to do that better.
