This painting was one that I did just for fun. And those always seem to become my favorites.
Most often when I begin a piece, I set an intention for a feeling I'd like to express. But with this painting, I just wanted to play with some of the gelli prints I'd been making.
So I wasn't scared about coming up with a weird character.
And, layer by layer, this funny guy came out of the paint and paper.

Through the process, the painting revealed its story...
WITH THIS, THEN the stars may fall, the sun might shine, brighter still. But until, there is never knowing.
Have a wonderful weekend!

super cute! Love the simplicity & the colors...it almost looks kind of encaustic.
ReplyDeletethanks! it's so strange how simplicity comes so often from not trying. but then i can never "try" and do it again :)
DeleteFor some reason I really identified with the woman's face. A lot of emotion there, but you moved onto the next step.
ReplyDeletethanks, crystal. i loved that girl's face too. but a big part of me was so pushed out of my comfort zone with that face, i had to change it. i'm happy to have the progress photo and go back to it again :)
DeleteJuliet, your work is so incredible! It makes me happy and I love to look at it. Please, what are those "crayon sticks" or pastels that are laying on your work space there? Awesome colors! I'd love to know! TIA Dawn
