NEW Mixed Media Painting from Start to Finish

STAY STRONG. Original (SOLD).
Find prints in my etsy shop.

this painting is one of my long-nosed characters that have been inspirations from the paint your story e-course, and may be the wise man of the snooters. i'm still not sure if these more shamanistic paintings are characters from my book, or a completely different series...but i'm having so much fun discovering and uncovering them all!

this one went through a lot of different layers...

this is the painting i was hard at work on when the neighbor's dog walked into my backyard studio and spilled india ink everywhere. it completely changed the direction of the painting, as i went on to paint everything will be okay. from there a new character emerged...

i think i used every art supply in my studio for this painting...acrylics, oil pastels, chalk pastels, india and sumi inks, vintage wallpapers, book pages, newsprint, and even a little glitter!

all of it so inspired this character and his story...

This man has been a rabbit, a lion, and a deer many lifetimes ago, knowing the evolution and the journey it takes to STAY STRONG.

  1. I think that it is rather brave to add and layer, because with each new layer you get something new and there is always the possibility that you might want to go back, except you can't - and that takes a brave soul to push on. I love the richness and texture of the final layers, deep and solid - the rewards of being brave!

  3. I love the long and winding journey this painting took to get to its end! I think there's some sort of lesson tucked into that . . . I'm a member of Life Book and am downloading your class now. SO excited to get into it! :)

  4. This kind of painting speaks to me because its story is just as powerful as its image. There is something to be said for a work of art that has a voice to it.
