make a wish!

TITLE: Make A Wish. Prints available in my etsy shop.

i've been so blown away by all of your birthday wishes! THANK YOU so very much!

i had the most wonderful birthday and will be sure to share all of the stories and photos with you soon! but first, i wanted to show you this new owl i recently painted!

i was trying out some new things with my backgrounds and just playing with lots of color swiped with my hands across the canvas. this little owl just seemed to pop out of nowhere. and she happened to be one of those characters that came easily (which hardly ever seems to happen).

and quickly she got a little more detail to her feathers,

and an adorable little expression that i thought worked just perfectly with all of her pink!

for some reason i saw her sitting just at the horizon, with fields all around her. i added a journal page to her belly and some of my favorite origami paper for a wish bubble in the air.

then i layered on my vintage decoupage topcoat, thinking she was complete...

but when she dried and i looked at her once again, i instantly thought, "she needs a crown!"

and so she got a princesses' golden crown, which is very appropriate for any soon-to-be queen on her special day! Because this painting is all about the joy and possibility that I feel whenever I acknowledge my heart's desires and MAKE A WISH, knowing that doors open whenever the timing is right.

 MAKE A WISH!!!
