A Work In Progress

I've been working on this painting for a few days now. And that NEVER happens! I get bored really fast with my characters. If I'm not feeling them, I repaint the entire canvas. MAYBE I'll love a face but not an outfit or there have been times when I just know I can bring out more emotion in their face, so I'll redo that. But ONLY THAT.

This girl has gone from a singer in the spotlight to blowing hair to a humble cat and now she has no face! And her now lovely dress! It started from beautiful bedding cut out of an Anthropologie catalog, but then I treated myself to some new origami paper and instead of starting a new piece, cut out lots and lots of little half circles from different sheets of the origami paper and layered it over the other for this beautiful quilting effect. I'm loving it! And just can't wait to see what this girl grows into!

  3. It IS lovely so far- and I LOVE work that changes from one thing to another... it's one of the lessons I have learned just recently, to let a piece become what it will. I think we all create beautiful things when we don't overthink and we let our creative process take the lead. Your work is always thought-provoking and wonderful, can't wait to see her when she is done.

  11. Dearest Juliette, sometimes my sewing process goes this way too, my piece would evolve from something to a totally whole new different result. 18. I love your 'girls'. Do you name them? You could create a whole series about X doing this and that in her day. Could add longetivity to your work/characters. I just found your site through a link on your comment on the Kelly Rae Roberts e-course. I'm super impressed. Did you photograph your work yourself?

So many questions...but you really do present a super professional business.

    Kind regards
    Kylie
